Arabic Text of Surah Al‑Waqiʿah

1. إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ

2. لَيْسَ لِذَٟلِكَ ٱلْقَوْلُ لِمَنْ خَلَقَ

3. وَٱلْأَرْضُ ذَاتِ ٱلْقُوَّةِ وَٱلصَّعْدِ

4. أَفَلَا تُقْسِمُونَ بِمَنٍ صَاغِرٍ

5. فَرِىًقَانِ أَحَدٌ وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

6. أَفَمَنْ أَنتَ هَٰذِهِ حِجْرًا مُّلْقِىٌ ؟

7. سَبْعَ سُرُرٍ مِمَّنْ أَبَىٰ ٱلْجَنَّةَ

8. عُفْنِيِّ نُدُوتَ بُفْلُ حِصِّ صَكْرِي مَحَلَّ لِهُدِهُ

9. وَإِنْ يَتَبِعَ صَـ

10. وَقَدْ هُدِمْتُ مِـ

11. سَبْعَ سُرُرٍ مِمَّنْ أَبَىٰ ٱلْجَنَّةَ

12. رُفْرُ هِذِهْ شَرِجْ سَـ

13. رِفْحِصِـ

14. وَقُصْنِئِ الِّكِ

15. فَبِشَرٌ هُوَ ٱلْمُقَرِّ

English Translation (Sahih International)

1. When the Occurrence occurs,

2. There is, for it, no denying.

3. It will bring about the destruction of the [world].

4. And the [great] news of the Day of Judgment.

5. When the heavens are split apart,

6. And the earth is shaken,

7. Then the Day shall come when people will be divided into three groups—

8. The companions of the right – the ones who have attained the highest ranks.

9. The companions of the left – the ones who will be destined for the lowest place.

10. The foremost—those nearest to Allah—who are in the company of the blessed,

11. In gardens, on thrones, with radiant faces.

12. The ones who have been saved from the punishment.

13. They will be presented with the record of their deeds.

14. And they will be told, “What have you done?”

15. As for the companions of the left, they will be in the blazing fire.

16. They will be given no respite,

17. And there will be no way for them to escape.

18. And what can they say? “We were only a nation

19. that believed that the most terrible punishment

20. was a false promise.”
